The dinosaurs of the "Jurassic Park" film series are back on the big screen and film fans are flocking to theaters. "Jurassic Park: Dominion" wraps up the series that began with the original film in 1993. This outing brings together the stars of the current films: Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, and Isabella Sermon as Maisie Lockwood together with the stars of the original films: Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcom, and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu. So let the fun begin! The film is set four years after the events of "Fallen Kingdom", with dinosaurs living alongside humans with mixed results. Claire, the former operations manager for the now closed Jurassic World Park, is continuing her work with the Dinosaur Protection Group, and he and Owen live in a remote cabin with Maisie (who was revealed in the previous film to be a clone), in order to keep her safe from Biosyn Genetics, who want the girl for medical experiments. One day at the cabin, Owen's trained Velociraptor, Blue, shows up at the cabin with an offspring Maisie christens as Beta. Meanwhile, large previously extinct locusts have begun threatening the world's food supply, and Dr. Sattler begins an investigation into the pests, later seeking help from Dr. Grant. The two are able to visit Biosyn, thanks to Dr. Malcom, who is a resident speaker now working for the company. Dr. Malcom has invited the duo to help uncover the truth behind the experiments at Biosyn. Meanwhile, Maisie and Beta are kidnapped by Biosyn operatives to be taken to the plant. This results in pursuit by Owen and Claire who are aided in their effort to rescue Maisie and Beta by former Air Force pilot Kayla Watts (DeWanda Wise). The trio fly to the Biosyn location, where they unexpectedly crash land after an encounter with a group of Quetzalcoatlus (flying dinosaurs). Just before the crash, Owen insists Claire jettison out of the plane to save her life. After she lands in a tree, Claire must ward off various dinosaurs until she is able to reunite with Own and Kayla. Meanwhile, events at Biosyn turn chaotic after Dr.r. Sattler and Dr. Grant break into a restricted area in order stea a locust sample in order to devise a way to stop the creatures from devisating the earth. Eventually all the characters meet to the delight of the fans of the series, providing many great moments of nostalgia and witty dialogue. The story features the expected thrills and excitement, and we all know the main reason we love these films: the dinosaurs. I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters of the original films and the current ones. Speaking of the actors from the original films, they step back into their roles as if hardly any time has passed. It's hard to believe the first film dates back to 1993! The action and intrigue in the storyline is on par with any James Bond film, and only amps up the thrills when the dinosaurs do our favorite activity: chase humans. Original director Steven Spielberg is back as one of the executive producers, and Colin Trevorrow, who directed the previous films, returns to the helm. My only disappointment with the film was I had hoped the character of Kayla Watts would be the daughter of Ian Malcom, who was seen in "The Lost World". To me this was a missed opportunity. Other than that nitpick, "Jurassic Park: Dominion" is everything you expect in a popcorn flick released in the hot summer months: fun! Now playing in theaters. (Rated PG-13)
