Hello everyone, hope you and your family are doing well. Please continue to ride safe and watch out for the cage, deer, bear, dogs, cats, and grass. A lot of folks have gone down this year due to these factors. Keep your eyes open and your knees in the breeze. This week I am going to write about Big Boy Pop Ups and the good they do in our communities.
Two years I was looking for a new food vendor for our Bike Rally. I called Daniel Wilson and he gave me a list of vendors. He said they were all good but Big Boy Pop Ups was one of the best. So, I called TJ the owner and invited him to cook at 7th Annual Snake Pit Bike Rally. When Big Boy Pop Ups arrived a 350-pound, 6-foot 2 inches, black man stepped out of his truck. It didn’t take me long to figure out this was my brother from another mother. I even learned he hears better out of his right ear; he doesn’t seem to hear anything in his left ear. TJ and his entire team are and always will be the only food vendor for us. By the time the rally ended everybody told me that was the only food vendor I would ever need at the rally. The Big Boys team fit right in and were so helpful and the food was off the chain. Since then, TJ and his team have become not just friends but family.
Now for a little history about Big Boys Pop Ups. TJ being a BIG BOY WHO LOVES TO EAT (350lbs) Had a passion for cooking great food so in 2019 he started Big Boy Pop Ups with nothing more than a kitchen stove, a small grill, a vision, strong family ties and friends cheering him on. But at the same time, he knew he wanted to always give back to the community.
Since the early days of this outstanding food vendor, Big Boys has grown by leaps and bounds. They can set up big dining tents, large smokers, huge grill and cook on site at any event no matter how small or how big these folks can handle anything you throw at them. They make some of the BEST tacos on the planet, BBQ, Fish, Turkey, Slaw, Mac & cheese, Beans and so much more. They can do Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. If you have not eaten at the Big Boys Pop Up Food vendor, then you are missing out on not just some great food but on some awesome fellowship.
This company has given so much back to our communities and continues too so. They have helped countless kids, veterans, seniors, and folks in need. They do a Thanksgiving Dinner every year and feed families for free. Every year they help local school kids get their supplies for school. The list is endless of the things they do to help those in need.
On August 20th, 2022, is one of their events The Back to School Bash at Douglas Community Park 804 South Watauga Ave. Elizabethton, TN 11am to 5pm. Big Boy Pop Ups will be feeding everybody free. Chicken, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, BBQ, Mac & Cheese etc. plus a free soda. There will be bounce houses, a basketball tournament, games and much more. They are asking for school supplies to help local kids. If you ever seen them out or know where they are sitting up stop by and show them the same love and support, they show our communities.
